With the 2-1 win against Sampdoria, AC Milan maintained their top position at the Serie A table and reinstated their five-point lead. Stefano Pioli’s side upheld their unbeaten run in the second half when Franck Kessie converted a penalty successfully to give AC Milan a lead and Samu Castillejo scored the second in the 77th minute to put the visitors forward. Though Sampdoria tried to fight back AC Milan held them back, Albin Ekdal was able to score just once in the 82nd minute in an attempt to overthrow the league leaders. Sampdoria witnessed its fifth defeat of the match in the season.
Other than Milan in the Serie A Napoli also recorded a 4-0 win against 10-men Crotone with the help from Lorenzo Insigne, Hirving Lozano, Diego Demme, and Andrea Petagna. Roma held Sassuolo back in a winless draw Parma and Benevento match ended the same way and Verona and Cagliari also drew at 1-1.
