Ajax criticised in Holland between polemics and poor form

The Champions League might be returning tomorrow against giants Real Madrid at the wrong time for Ajax as they're in poor form after a 1-0 loss to Heracles last weekend and after recently being thrashed 6-2 by Feyenoord as well.

This has led to lots of strong criticism of the Dutch side from those in the country's sports media.

"[Matthijs] De Ligt is thinking about himself and, with his young age of 19, the foreigners don't think he can't be captain because the armband should go to the most experienced or oldest player in their culture", De Telegraaf editor Valentijn Driessen wrote.

There is no unity, just 11 players. "[Frenkie] De Jong must be thinking about his multi-million euros transfer and [Daley] Blind and [Dusan] Tadic, the top earners, aren't up to scratch" ended the journalist.
