Arsenal 1-1 Southampton

Arsenal started well yesterday, and quickly established a dominant advantage. They pressured the opposition immediately, and created a number of clear cut chances. Gabriel Jesus was brought down inside 11 minutes, and he was ruled offside; Bukayo Saka fizzed in a dangerous cross; Granit Xhaka forced the goalkeeper into a decent save; and Martin Odegaard clipped a shot wide when he should have scored.

Xhaka finished off the attack with a thunderous shot in the 12th minute, putting the Result 1-1. The Brazilian was clearly fouled on the right when he got too close to Caleta-Car, and it was an obvious penalty. The defender, however, should have been sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity. Five minutes later they were level. Armstrong made it 1-1. In the 60th minute, they were level again. A step-over in midfield gave them a way to break the lines, and Stuart Armstrong scored.
