Asencio scores twice as Villa defeats Chelsea 2-1 in a comeback

Aston Villa overcame a deficit to defeat Chelsea, earning a crucial three points in their pursuit of European qualifying thanks to two goals from Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford combined. Pedro Neto created Chelsea's first goal with a superb play out wide in the ninth minute. The winger skipped past Ian Maatsen and then drilled a low shot across the face of the goal, which only needed a little prodding from Enzo Fernandez to go past Emilio Martinez.

Rashford, who was first called offside until the video assistant referee system reversed the ruling, helped Aston Villa equalize by tapping a Matty Cash throw across the six-yard box for Asensio to bundle in. Asensio then scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute after being fed by fellow mid-season addition Rashford once again. This was made possible by a massive error made by Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who let a first-time effort slip under him.
