Bellingham came to the rescue in an ode to suffering for England

It was in intense suffering that lasted almost the entire match that England beat Serbia, 1-0, in a game that closed the first round of group C of Euro'2024. It was only the second triumph for the British in their debut European games.

In a duel in Gelsenkirchen, which had already seen fights between fans even before the game started, England went into the break ahead of the scoreboard after 45 minutes where they were superior in the space they had to play.

Jude Bellingham, as a fireman, put the English ahead in the 13th minute, with a powerful header in a move that he himself created. Serbia, on the other hand, were too closed and were unable to reach the opposite goal.

However, the second half Serbia gave the English a run for their money and came close to a draw on several occasions.
