Brighton keen on signing Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this month

At Anfield, Oxlade-contract Chamberlain's is set to expire in the summer. Therefore, Liverpool has the choice of either selling him before the conclusion of the January transfer window or letting him go for free at the time. Clubs are well aware of the circumstances. They would only be interested in a trade if the Reds were prepared to release the midfielder for no money this month. Following the recent sale of Leandro Trossard to Arsenal, Brighton is one of the interested parties.

In 2017, Liverpool acquired Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal for for £35 million. Before suffering an ACL injury during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final in 2018, he had a strong debut season here. The 29-year-old hasn't been able to regularly reintegrate into the team since that time. His recent back-to-back starts are a result of Liverpool's injury worries up front.
