Chelsea draw up with Brighton but move into top four

Thomas Tuchel’s side was held back by relegation-threatened visitors at Stamford Bridge who threatened to take the lead with 15 minutes left but Danny Welbeck struck the post instead.  And Chelsea with less than ideal performance moved towards the top four in the Premier League by leapfrogging over West Ham on account of goal difference. While Hammers and Blues are set to face each other on Saturday which would give a clear picture of who would take the fourth spot.

Defender Ben White of Brighton was sent off in stoppage time as well and Chelsea could not take advantage of it and be held to a draw on their ground itself. The team also faced criticism while heading into the playoffs due to the Super League issue and the match started after 15 minutes of the scheduled time. Brighton on the other hand improved their standing by moving seven points clear of the relegation zone.
