Lucas Gourna-Douath, a midfielder for Saint-Etienne, is likely to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club that will keep him at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard until June 2025. The 17-year-old is seen as one of the brightest young talents in French football and has already been scouted by a host of top clubs around Europe. Since Gourna-Douath was promoted from the Saint-Etienne B team to the first-team squad last summer, he has been developing at the senior level.
Previously, the central midfielder had been with the club's U19s. Last season was a watershed moment for the player, who made 30 Ligue 1 games as Saint-Etienne ended 11th in the table. Gourna-Douath has also played for the French national team at the young team level, making his debut with the U16s in September 2018 before moving on to the U17s the following year.
