Christian Pulisic appreciates the World Cup crowd for their support

More than 12 million people watched the game after it defeated Iran in the group stage, which energized the nation. With a loss to the Netherlands on Saturday, USA soccer's World Cup hopes were dashed. The Americans were eliminated after losing 3-1 and failing to advance to the quarterfinals.

After the game, star player Christian Pulisic thanked the crowd for their support and apologized for losing in the round of 16. "Thank you very much for all of your help, folks. It was quite meaningful to us, "added Pulisic. "We apologize. We really wanted it, and I hope we were able to thrill you and demonstrate the values of this nation and this team. I just wanted to say thanks to you guys." The game-winning goal scorer Pulisic, who was injured against Iran, was proud of the effort but disappointed with the outcome.
