Crystal Palace goalless draw against Newcastle United

In the previous six days, Palace had played three games. Midweek, a 1-1 draw with Manchester United gave Vieira's team a point after they lost 1-0 against Chelsea. After Wednesday night's tie with Erik ten Hag's team, the French coach made four adjustments, starting Jeffrey Schlupp, Eberechi Eze, Joel Ward, and Jordan Ayew. Throughout the whole 90 minutes, just one effort from Palace found its way to goal; in the 72nd minute, Jean-Philippe Mateta forced Nick Pope into a strong stop.

Newcastle, under Eddie Howe, outshot the Eagles by 16 shots and 62% of the time. The Palace manager commented on their recent schedule, saying "You always want more, but at the same time, you have to realise the teams that we have played." "We've played United, Chelsea, and Newcastle; each of those three clubs is on a different level.
