Crystal Palace Mercilessly Thrashed Aston Villa by 3-1

Wilfred Zaha levels for the hosts firing a low shot past Emiliano Martinez. Palace were awarded a penalty by VAR in the second half because the ball struck Lucas Digne's arm from Marc Guehi's back-post header. Zaha fired his second shot of the game with the spot-kick as well. Jean-Philippe Mateta wrapped up the game only a minute after being called upon as a substitute

Both of the teams served plenty of twists and turns as Crystal Palace sealed their first win of the season. After commencing the season with matches against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, this home tie with Aston Villa feels like a temporary fix for Crystal Palace.

Gerrard criticised Villa’s lack of consistency after last win over Everton. He is concerned over back-to-back defeats to start the season.
