Sweden played their opening match of Euro 2020 Group E against Spain, who outmatched them on the field but still the match ended in a goalless draw on Monday. Spain dominated the possession and had 953 passes while Sweden was at 178. Great goalkeeping efforts by Robin Olsen and stifling tactics helped them draw and earn a point. While Spain was left frustrated as they controlled possession still failed to get past Sweden’s defensive walls.
Coach Janne Andersson was pleased after they were able to hold off against the 2008 and 2012 European champions. Strikers Alexander Isak and Marcus Berg were more focused on defense rather than creating opportunities at the front and later were replaced in the second half.
