FIFA threatens a yellow card

The FA have officially confirmed that England, along with six other European nations who announced to wear the OneLove armband at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, will not do any such things now.The decision has come to light after the warning of captains receiving a yellow card for wearing the armband became known. England will kickstart their tournament against Iran today and the information of the discussions between the FA and FIFA have now domineered the build-up after Harry Kane vocalised the wish to wear the One Love armband on Sunday.

"Fifa has been very clear that it will impose sporting sanctions if our captains wear the armbands on the field of play. As national federations, we can’t put our players in a position where they could face sporting sanctions including bookings, so we have asked the captains not to attempt to wear the armbands in Fifa World Cup games," the Join Football Association stated.
