The president of Real Madrid made, on Sunday, on the sidelines of the General Assembly, harsh criticism against opponents of the creation of the European Super League.
"The Superliga would not be a closed competition, as it would have 25% of its seats open. The president of the ECA [Al-Khelaïfi, owner of PSG] said that Real Madrid were afraid of competition. Perhaps the president of the ECA should be reminded of who is Real Madrid", began Florentino Pérez.
"Football needs professional, modern and transparent management. That's why we took the step of offering a competition like the Superliga", added the leader, exemplifying the rivalry that exists between two of the biggest figures in tennis.
"Nadal and Djokovic have already played 59 times? Is this boring? However, Real Madrid and Liverpool have only met nine times in 67 years, so what's the point of depriving fans of these games?" he added.
