Getafe beat Valencia 1-0 at home in a Spanish league

In a Spanish league match that saw three red cards on Friday, Getafe defeated Valencia 1-0 at home behind a goal from Borja Mayoral with just three minutes remaining. For the first forty-five minutes of play, there wasn't much separating the sides as they began even on 19 points with the identical goal differential of minus three.

Five minutes into the second half, though, Valencia defender Gabriel Paulista's red card for a nasty foul gave Getafe the advantage. Getafe's goal was practically overdue, but the Brazilian's dismissal two minutes before halftime gave the home team momentum. Mayoral glanced header over outstretched custodian Giorgi Mamardashvili after meeting a cross from the right. Antoine Griezmann and Jude Bellingham are now tied for second place in La Liga goals scored, after to his ninth league goal.
