Hertha Berlin was defeated by Mainz at home

Olympiastadion had a large crowd and the match would have gotten better if not for Davie Selke’s early shot from 18 yards. Hertha settled and they played some confident soccer that belied their position in the league until that moment came which typified their season until now.

There wasn’t too much danger when passes were exchanged between Silvain Widmer and Karim Onisiwo but the Swiss shot inside Marcel Lotka’s near post, from an almost impossible angle. Anton Stach curled an effort from the area’s edge, thinking he doubled the lead for the guests but the opponent players ruled out the ball. However, just before it was an interval, Herta managed to claw themselves into the game once again. Mainz though they got their lead back the ball was ruled out.
