Injury update: Mbappé suffers ankle sprain

With just 18 minutes remaining in the match, he suffered a significant sprain to his right ankle. The incident occurred entirely by accident: Rice dove to the ground in an attempt to win the ball, and Mbappe jumped to avoid a collision. However, upon landing, he twisted his ankle. The Frenchman fell to the turf and quickly summoned the medical staff. Initially, it appeared to be a mild ligament sprain, which could potentially allow him to continue playing, albeit with discomfort. But that was not the case—he was unable to continue. Mbappe left the pitch on his own two feet, as reported by AS.

Preliminary examinations indicate a slight sprain. Sources within the club assure that the situation is not overly serious.

It is also worth noting that Mbappe would not have featured in the upcoming match against Athletic Club anyway, as he will serve a suspension.
