Inter had a hard-fought 4-2 win in Rome

After coming back to defeat Roma 4-2 and increasing their lead in the league to seven points, Inter Milan resumed their march towards the Serie A championship on Saturday. Marcus Thuram was crucial to Inter's victory at the drenched Stadio Olimpico in Rome. With his team down at the interval, the France striker tied the score immediately after and forced an own goal from Angelino to give Inter the lead in the 56th minute.

As the home team attempted to equalise, Alessandro Bastoni completed a counterattack to put an end to Roma in stoppage time. Thuram had caused an opponent to put the ball into his own net for the second week running following Federico Gatti's own goal in the previous weekend's victory against closest rivals Juventus. Simone Inzaghi's team will now find out how much of an advantage they will have following this weekend's games by watching Monday's Juve match at home against struggling Udinese.
