John Stones has become a major doubt for England’s Euro 2024 opener

Before the Three Lions' game in Germany on Wednesday, Stones, a defender for Manchester City, was absent from England's practice due to sickness. After taking a knock during the friendly against Iceland last week, there was concern about the center-back's injury, but on Tuesday in Germany, he appeared to be in good shape.

Since then, though, Stones has been unwell and did not practice with the rest of the team on Wednesday, raising questions ahead of the team's opening game against Serbia on Sunday night. Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports claims that Stones was essentially imprisoned and kept inside his bedroom to stop the illness from infecting the other members of Southgate's entourage. The Football Association hasn't disclosed the specifics of Stones' ailment, but it has subsequently surfaced via The Telegraph that he is now a serious doubt for the match against Serbia. It's also uncertain if Stones will practice on Thursday.
