Juventus returns to the winning ways

In only two first-half minutes, goals from Alex Sandro and Federico Chiesa gave Juventus the victory in just their third league game since the end of January. After Massimiliano Allegri was fired last week, Juventus, led by interim manager Paolo Montero, concluded their season by ending a record of six consecutive Serie A draws.

Following his decision to not extend his contract at Bologna, who suffered a defeat at the hands of Genoa on Friday, Motta is widely regarded as the next manager of Juventus. Juve moved up to third place with their victory on Saturday, but their exact standing will depend on how Europa League champion Atalanta performs against Torino on Sunday and in their upcoming match against Fiorentina the following weekend. In order to pass Juventus and tie their all-time best ranking in the Italian premier division, Atalanta, which is now five points behind them in fifth place, needs to win their next two games.
