Kane backs Tuchel's call to rest him from England friendly

Harry Kane has endorsed Thomas Tuchel’s decision to rest him and ten other England players for the opening March friendly against Uruguay. Although included in a 35‑man squad, the Bayern Munich striker will join up later for the second match against Japan. Fresh from scoring his 31st league goal in Bayern’s 4‑0 win over Union Berlin, Kane said the move was logical given the demanding months ahead.

He argued that April, May and the World Cup make recovery time crucial, noting that many squad members would not have played both friendlies anyway. Kane added that those given a short break must stay fit while also taking the chance to reset mentally before returning to a packed run‑in.

Tuchel confirmed that Kane, Dean Henderson, Dan Burn, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Nico O’Reilly, Elliot Anderson, Declan Rice, Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka will all sit out the Uruguay match, with Japan to follow on Monday.
