LaLiga: Valencia, the unusual Batshuayi effect

The decision by Valencia boss Marcelino to openly criticise Michy Batshuayi has seemed to have had the desired effect.

Since the Belgian's torrid display against Sporting Gijon, Los Che's strikers have been able to discover their form back in front of goal, with Valencia scoring 15 goals in seven games.

Batshuayi has since left for pastures new in the shape of Crystal Palace, but such was Marcelino's displeasure for the Belgian during the Sporting game - where he was subbed off, despite coming on as a substitute - that the Spaniard had lost all faith in the 25-year-old. "He will not play again", said Marcelino.

This damning verdict seems to have done the trick as strikers Rodrigo Moreno, Kevin Gameiro and Santi Mina have all chipped in with goals for Valencia, along with midfielders Ferran Torres, Dani Parejo and Denis Cheryshev.
