Nice suffered a shock setback at the Allianz Riviera, as Fabien Centonze scored the game's only goal to give bottom-placed Metz a 1-0 victory against their second-placed hosts. Nice might have moved away from third-placed Rennes and the northerners — just a point behind — with a win over a squad that had only won once all season after Lens failed to seize second place with their draw at home to Angers 24 hours earlier.

Following last weekend's labored win over Clermont, Christophe Galtier had called for "more personality" from his club, especially with Dante returning from suspension to skipper the side.
