Lionel Messi adds another Ballon d’Or to his shelf

Argentina’s Lionel Messi claimed his seventh Ballon d’Or title at the age of 34 to set a record with his seventh win. Messi completed a move to Paris Saint Germain this season after a tearfully farewell to Barcelona and beats Robert Lewandowski for the title.

Germany’s ace missed out on the award last year when the 2020 edition was scrapped due to the pandemic. While Karim Benzema had Spain’s sport and Jorginho also offered a tough challenge with his brilliant season with Champions League title with Chelsea as well as Euro 2020 with Italy but the Jurors supported Messi’s brilliant form and handed the 2019 winner one more award for his shelf. He is now the first player from the French club to win the award after Jean-Pierre Papin of Marseille in 1991.
