Liverpool defeats Ajax 2-1

Mohamed Salah finally put an end to his goal drought by opening the scoring in the 17th minute when he shot home after a perfectly-timed pass from Diogo Jota. At the end of normal time, Joel Matip made sure that Jurgen Klopp’s side grabbed maximum points as the defender rose to meet Kostas Tsimikas’ corner. Victory takes off Liverpool to level on three points with Ajax and Napoli, who are goiong to Rangers in the other game in Group A on Wednesday.

"If you put the two games next to each other, I don't think you recognise the same squad," Klopp commented upon his side's major enhancement from six days ago in southern Italy.
