Liverpool's Premier League title dreams were dashed as Crystal Palace defeated them 1-0 at Anfield. Eberechi Eze converted Tyrick Mitchell's cut-back and Palace’s effort paid off early on. Visitors enjoyed their one-goal advantage at halftime.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds increased the pressure in the second half, however, like in previous games against Manchester United and Atalanta, their finishing let them down, as they suffered their first league defeat at home since October 2022. Wataru Endo hit the crossbar before Dean Henderson made an excellent effort to deny Luis Diaz. Henderson saved another magnificent shot from Darwin Nunez, and Nathaniel Clyne blocked Diogo Jota's close-range effort. Mateta had another great opportunity to score the visitors' second goal from a rare Palace assault, but Alisson produced an incredible stop from point-blank range. Manchester City now enjoys a two-point advantage against Liverpool.
