Liverpool urged to sign Paixao as Gakpo upgrade

Former Feyenoord manager Rob Jacobs has strongly encouraged Liverpool to sign Brazilian winger Igor Paixao, claiming he would be an improvement over Cody Gakpo. Paixao was signed by Arne Slot for Feyenoord in August 2022 and has since become one of the club’s most influential players.

The 24-year-old has delivered an impressive performance this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 15 assists in 38 appearances. His overall contribution for Feyenoord now stands at 32 goals and 25 assists across 120 matches. While he has been loosely linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, a potential transfer to Anfield would see him reunite with Slot, who is set to take over as Liverpool’s manager. Jacobs, who played for Feyenoord and also managed the club during the 1988/89 season, believes Paixao would significantly strengthen the Reds.
