Liverpool players watered-down the second-half fightback from Crystal Palace to stay on title-chasing track with a 3-1 win. Reds climbed closer to Premier League leaders Manchester City cutting their lead to nine points after the spirited clash with Eagles. Liverpool enjoyed an ideal start to the match when Virgil Van Dijk’s header found its way past Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper under 10 minutes of the match. Reds did miss better changes to lead early when Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson fell short.
The battle raged on when Reds doubled the lead with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s beautiful shot after receiving a cross-field ball from Robertson. Palace shook things up in the second half with Odsonne Edouard’s back-heeled smash that made it past Alisson Becker. Eagles then kept hunting for an equalizer but Liverpool stayed on top and put the game out of reach with Fabinho’s successful spot-kick.
