Man City lost to Leipzig 2-1

In the last Champions League’s group stage matchup Manchester City lost to Leipzig heavily but retained their first spot in Group A. The Bundesliga side seized a Europa League playoff place by finishing third. Dominik Szoboszlai and André Silva scored for the team but they had to rely on Paris Saint-Germain to win the match against Brugge to ensure the Belgians side would be with four points and fourth in the group standings.

City's attack came later than expected as Riyad Mahrez pulled one back at the 77th minute but their hopes to find an equalizer were crushed when Kyle Walker was shown a red card six minutes later for kicking Silva’s legs from behind. While City had already qualified for the next stage a loss and losing Walker would be a blow to the team as the full-back would have to miss City’s first knockout game of the competition.
