Man City's 3-1 victory over Burnley

After missing over two months due to injury, Erling Haaland made his eagerly awaited Manchester City comeback on Wednesday, substituting in during a 3-1 victory over Burnley, after two goals from 24th-birthday celebration Julian Alvarez. After replacing Kevin De Bruyne in the 71st minute, who was making his first start following his own injury layoff and had provided a smart assist for Alvarez's — and City's — second goal, Haaland was met with a standing ovation at Etihad Stadium.

In his brief time on the pitch, which featured a crazy miskick that sent the ball backward instead of towards goal, Haaland was unable to add to his 14 goals this season, which ties him for the most in the league. Rodri added the third goal for City. With Haaland back from injury following a foot ailment, Alvarez's double will give City boss Pep Guardiola a plenty to consider in the remaining few months of the campaign.
