Manchester United completely dismantles Southampton 9-0 in record rush

Manchester United's first triumph in three league matches and they level on points with leaders Manchester City but stay behind on goal difference. Red Devils equaled the biggest success in Premier League history as they crumpled nine-man Southampton 9-0. Uncontrolled United scored four times in the first half after Southampton's teen midfielder Alexandre Jankewitz was dismissed in the second at Old Trafford.  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side hit five more after the break, binding them with Leicester's 9-0 success at Southampton in 2019.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's score opened the floodgates and Marcus Rashford stowed United's second. Jan Bednarek's OG made it three before Edinson Cavani added the fourth. The goals continued coming in as Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay got one each before Bruno Fernandes' successful penalty after Bednarek was sent off. Martial and Daniel James scored in stoppage-time to finish an unfathomable display by United.
