In 2021, PSG have increased their number of fans by 50% and, 10 months after reaching 100 million followers, they have now finished the year with more than 150 million, the club said in a statement this Friday.
The reason for this increase is Messi, who arrived last August from Barcelona. The club got itself another 20 million followers in just a few weeks. Since then they have been getting one million followers a week on average.
The club's director of communications, Jean-Martial Ribes, also highlighted "the wealth of content, which is more and more attractive" on their social media. At the same time, he promised more innovation to keep on growing.
At the moment, PSG have put in several areas of the city a temporary sculpture celebrating the 150 million followers and they are inviting their fans to take a photo with it and upload it to social media.
