Wolverhampton Wanderers took down Southampton 1-0 at St Mary’s Stadium extending the host’s winless run to six in Premier League. Striker Raul Jimenez made a comeback scoring his first goal after a year with a solo effort. The 30-year-old Mexican suffered a skull fracture last year and was rushed to surgery and missed out on the last campaign almost completely.
Ending the stalemate in the 61st minute Jimenez fired home a goal that was nothing short of impressive as he fought of Jan Bednarek’s to take the long ball from goalkeeper Jose Sa and then went on to dodge Mohammed Salisu to hand a lead to Wolves. Saints did put up a fight with numerous efforts being made by Tino Livramento and Adam Armstrong but it did not amount to a lot as Wolves held on.
