Celta made it one victory in 16 games against Rayo Vallecano on Monday night. The Galician side provided nothing throughout the game, with their finest attempt coming from a Renato Tapia shot that Rayo’s keeper Stole Dimitrievski nearly spilled over the line.
Rayo was more daring and bold, but they couldn't impose their will on their opponents, who fought for their point. Vicente Guaita kept their sheet clean in the first half. In the second, Isi Palazon forced another wonderful save after getting in behind the defense, but he couldn't get hold of his strike, as he had done on two previous volley efforts. Celta remain in the relegation zone, but are just three points below Cadiz and Sevilla, while Francisco's team have moved back into the top half with a point, moving them above Valencia and two points behind Getafe in eighth.
