Real Betis defeated struggling Celta Vigo 2-1 on Friday to end a four-game losing skid in the Spanish league. Even though Betis was having its worst run of the season, a late goal from Nabil Fekir and a beautiful side-footed goal from Juan Miranda after 52 minutes gave them a comfortable lead until Jørgen Strand Larsen's late goal for Celta provided a late consolation.
After replacing Rafa Benitez as coach three games ago, this was Claudio Giráldez's first loss as coach of Celta. His side now sits in 17th position, just above the relegation zone. Celta is in 18th place with 28 points, three more than Cadiz. Celta is among many clubs battling to keep above Granada (14 points) and Almeria (13 points), which are both in desperate need of a miracle to survive. With 45 points, one more than Valencia and four behind sixth-place Real Sociedad, Betis jumped up to seventh position.
