Thibaut Courtois is set for another extended spell out after Real Madrid confirmed he has suffered a muscle tear in his right rectus femoris. The Belgian was substituted at half-time during the clash with Manchester City at the Etihad, initially believing he was dealing with simple fatigue. Tests carried out on Thursday revealed a more serious injury, ruling him out for roughly six weeks.
According to MARCA, Courtois had already felt discomfort during the warm‑up but chose to start, a decision that may have aggravated the problem. His absence now stretches into a crucial phase of Madrid’s season. He will miss the upcoming derby against Atlético Madrid as well as both legs of the Champions League quarter‑final against Bayern Munich.
With a demanding schedule ahead, Madrid must once again adapt without their star goalkeeper, whose return is not expected before May.
