Real Sociedad hold Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 home draw

Sunday's La Liga match saw Real Sociedad hold Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 home draw thanks to a spectacular late equalizer from Luka Sucic.

After Antoine Griezmann headed down a lofted ball and set up Julian Alvarez with a lovely backheel, Atletico had seized the lead early. The Argentine scored in just 51 seconds. The hosts dominated possession after that, and Jan Oblak produced a series of excellent saves, including a double stop against Martin Zubimendi and Nayef Aguerd. Sucic's incredible first-time long-range strike flew over the goalie and into the top corner in the 84th minute, capping up La Real's relentless siege. With 17 points, Atletico climbed to third position, four points behind Real Madrid in second place and seven behind leaders Barcelona. With nine points, Sociedad is ranked fifteenth.
