Rudiger recalled Tuchel's departure from Chelsea: "It hit me"

Thomas Tuchel didn't have the best of season starts at Chelsea, which is why, after several successes, he ended up being sacked. Already out of the blues and playing for Real Madrid, Antonio Rudiger confessed that he was surprised by the decision taken by Todd Boehly.

"It hit me", he began by admitting in an interview with the Guardian, adding: "What we achieved as a club, even if it was under an old regime [with Abramovich as owner], was a shock. He [Tuchel] signed the players he wanted and, out of nowhere, he was gone".

Despite the big surprise, Rudiger ended up saying that everything can be expected from Chelsea.

"But it's Chelsea. Somehow it's not a surprise. I ended up sending him a message to thank him for everything he's done for me. Without him, winning the Champions League would have been impossible," he added.
