Atalanta defeated Roma by a score of a whopping 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to maintain their perfect Serie A record and hold onto first place. Giorgio Scalvini's goal from the edge of the box in the 35th minute proved to be the game-changing play in this tantalizing duel. Roma entered the field in good spirits after two consecutive victories in different tournaments. The Giallorossi entered the game with every cause to be optimistic after defeating Atalanta in both of their Serie A encounters from the previous season. Despite having serious defensive flaws, Gian Piero Gasperini's team kept the home team scoreless.
