Still no updates on Karim Benzema World Cup return

Didier Deschamps has disagreed to attest or detest any speculation that suggests Karim Benzema's probable return to the French squad for the knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup. Benzema, 34, is undergoing treatment for a thigh injury that he contracted during the training prior to the the tournament in Qatar. The injury ruled him out of action for France’s title defence.

Benzema would be sidelined for three weeks which would effectively rule him out of the World Cup. Deschamps did not summon any replacement for Benzema which indicates that the Real Madrid striker is technicallystill  eligible to play for France in Qatar if he is given a green signal to make a return. France currently have two less players in the 26-man squad permitted by FIFA as Lucas Hernandez also experienced a World Cup-ending injury against Australia.
