THE COMEBACK KINGS

On a pulsating night at the Raymond E. Guishard Technical Centre, Uprising stretched their unbeaten run to four games when WE came from 2 goals down to beat Diamond FC by 3 goals to 2, courtesy of a Jauron Gayle Hat-Trick!
Diamond took the lead in the first ten minutes of the game when Jalen Smeins rifled an unstoppable shot into the far corner of the goal from 20 yards out. Later in the half, Jared Smeins doubled the lead for Diamond, finding the net from close range. Before Diamond’s second, we had gone close to scoring on several occasions but could just not get that all important goal! However, that all changed five minutes before half time when Jauron got us back into the game with a powerful low shot from ten yards out. Game on!
We drew level in the 56th minute when Jordan Deans found Jauron with a long pass which put the Anguillian Archer clean through on goal. Jauron picked his spot perfectly to spark wild celebrations from the boys.
Things got even better on 62 minutes when Jauron scored his third of the night, smashing the ball into the roof of the net having been found by a great ball from Tre Gumbs. Obviously more celebrations followed this goal, but we had to be wary due to their being plenty of time left in the game. And just to prove that Asharn Hodge had to be at his absolute best to deny Diamond from equalising with a fantastic last-ditch block soon after we had taken the lead.
We managed to control the rest of the game very well and limited our opponents to half chances whilst also creating some of our own. However, there were panic stations deep into injury time when Diamond created a golden opportunity to equalise only for our goalkeeper Keronni Vanterpool to deny them with an excellent save with his left foot! Soon after, the final whistle blew to end an excellent game of football and to signal a superb win for Uprising FC.
