The 34-year-old German midfielder Toni Kroos declared on Tuesday that he would retire following this year's European Championship. He also stated that his final Champions League match for Real Madrid will be against Borussia Dortmund in the final next month.
"I will retire from professional football this summer following the Euro tournament. Real Madrid is and will always be my last club, as I have always stated," Kroos posted on Instagram. After joining the team in 2014, Kroos has made 463 appearances and will go as one of Real Madrid's most decorated players with almost 20 titles won, including four European Cups. Real Madrid has been around for 120 years. The midfield player won two more Champions League trophies with Bayern Munich in 2013 and the 2014 World Cup with Germany in addition to his accomplishments with Real Madrid.
