Udinese 2-0 over Sampdoria

Sampdoria was defeated by two goals in the first half and was now 13 points from a playoff spot with four rounds left. The two clubs in the relegation zone are Spezia and Cremonese, who are three and six points, respectively, below Hellas Verona in 17th place. On Monday, Sampdoria, who had only won two games since the year's beginning, fell behind in the ninth minute. Before passing the ball to Roberto Pereyra, who hoisted it beyond custodian Nicola Ravaglia, Festy Ebosele sprinted nearly the full length of the pitch.

Adam Masina headed home a chipped pass from Sandi Lovric to extend Udinese's advantage. Twelve minutes into the second half, Manolo Gabbiadini nearly brought Samp back into the game, but his shot hit the right post. After defeating fellow underachievers Salernitana 2-1 and snapping their 10-match winning streak, Empoli is all but guaranteed to make the playoffs.
