UEFA loses legal battle and cannot punish Superliga clubs

The Provincial Court of Madrid gave reason to the European Super League in the legal battle held with UEFA and FIFA, who sought to guarantee that the new competition will become a reality.

In the judgment, made public by the Spanish newspaper As, the Court declares that "FIFA and UEFA cannot justify their anti-competitive conduct as if they were the only holders of certain European values".

"Above all, if this serves them as an excuse to sustain a monopoly from which it can exclude or put obstacles to the initiative that intends to be its competitor, the European Super League", can be read in the document.

"It does not seem to us that the plaintiffs' conduct could be justified as a protection of the general interests of European football, so we warn that it is an action that brings together all the characteristics of an unjustifiable abuse", he completes.
