Venezia end the 19-year Serie A home success stand by

Venezia had to wait almost twenty years to get their hands on the first Serie A home success by beating Fiorentina 1-0. The newly-promoted side, hosted Fiorentina in the search to end the wait for the win at home and needed Mattia Aramu to score in an empty net after the ideal set up from Gianluca Busio and Thomas Henry. Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano was out of position because of the witty play by the hosts.

Former Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero also started his first Serie A match after seven years, he joined Venezia just a week ago on a free transfer. La Viola was playing with 10 men after the 77th minute when Riccardo Sottil got his second subsequent yellow card and the cue to leave the field. Venezia is now fifteenth with their first home victory in Serie A since February 2002.
