Villarreal stands defeated by Barcelona 1-3

Barcelona secured a 3-1 victory over Villarreal in La Liga. After Samuel Chukwueze canceled out Frenkie de Jong's opening, Memphis Depay and Philippe Coutinho struck in the dying stages of the game to secure all three points. Memphis Depay for the visitors squandered two wonderful chances in the first half, while Gavi had an early header saved by Geronimo Rulli.

De Jong broke the deadlock just three minutes into the second half, but Chukwueze equalized for the Yellow Submarine half an hour later. With the clock ticking away and Blaugrana failing to force a winner, a draw appeared to be the most likely outcome. After catching Villarreal at the back, Depay put his team ahead in the 87th minute with a beautiful finish. Juan Foyth then stopped Philippe Coutinho inside the area in stoppage time, and the Brazilian calmly converted the resulting penalty to put the game to bed.
