Despite the fact that West Ham United's poor performance has put more pressure on the manager, Julen Lopetegui is still "demanding" at least one new addition in January. It seems that the Spaniard is adamant about signing Brighton & Hove Albion full-back Tariq Lamptey. Since Lamptey's contract expires in the summer, any arrangement would probably be acceptable to the player, although his fee has not been discussed yet.
Brentford, Everton, and Nottingham Forest appear to have also shown interest in the Ghanaian, but they haven't taken any action. Due to his injury, the 24-year-old has had few opportunities at the Amex Stadium in the last year or so, but it appears that the Hammers are eager to bring him back to form. However, Lopetegui's preferences might not matter much—and much less if he is fired—because Tim Steidten, the director of football, has the last say in the decision.
