Anton Watson has signed a two-way deal with the Boston Celtics, as first reported by Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe. The former Zag was selected by the defending NBA champions with the 54th overall choice in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. After a long wait, the agreement has been reached. Although specifics were withheld, a typical two-way deal may be worth between $500K and $600K, which is half of the rookie minimum. Watson will play for both the G-League affiliate Maine Celtics and the Boston Celtics in equal measure. He is qualified to play in a maximum of 50 NBA games.
He played well for the Celtics in the summer league in Las Vegas. After five games, Watson averaged 11.8 points per game on 51-35-86 shooting splits and 5.2 points per game.
