Ben Simmons will not be a part of the Australian Boomers' World Cup campaign

According to the first report from Nets Daily, Simmons and the Nets decided that the 26-year-old would continue his recovery from the back ailment that kept him from playing more than 42 games in the 2022–23 NBA season.  Prior to pulling out of the 2019 World Cup and 2021 Olympics before the competitions, Simmons had already committed to playing for the Boomers after making his Boomers debut at the 2013 FIBA Oceania Championships.

While Simmons didn't make the Boomers' initial 18-man roster for the 2023 FIBA World Cup, there was hope that, depending on how well his rehabilitation was going, he would make the pre-tournament training camp. Simmons, according to Nets Daily, is optimistic about perhaps rejoining the Australian national team in time for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Patty Mills, a fellow Australian on his Nets squad, said that Simmons is making every effort to be fit for training camp.
