Payton Pritchard scored 27 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead the Boston Celtics to a dominant 123-99 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night. The win marked Boston’s 20th of the season and their fourth in five games. Pritchard continued to strengthen his case for Sixth Man of the Year and became the 10th Celtic to reach 500 career 3-pointers.
Derrick White also shone with 23 points and seven 3-pointers as the Celtics hit 20 shots from beyond the arc and led by as many as 32 points in the fourth quarter. Six Boston players scored in double figures. Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. The Celtics played without Jayson Tatum, who rested a sore right knee, and Sam Hauser, sidelined with an abdominal strain. Coach Joe Mazzulla assured that Tatum’s issue isn’t serious.
